Located in one of Melbourne’s most significant and celebrated destinations, Canterbury, 101 Maling Road is a collection of 30 stunning, contemporary living spaces designed in context with the area’s rich heritage.
The multi-residential development is a product of Kavellaris Urban Design, Zynergy Property and Liberty Builders. The development team faced a number of technical challenges including acoustic and sound performance, ventilation and floor to ceiling capabilities. In order to meet those conditions, the architect specified Safetyline Jalousie louvre windows in the design of the 101 Maling Road project.
Considering the close proximity of the residences to Canterbury Train Station, strong acoustic and sound performance was necessary to block out the noise and provide residents with the neighbourhood’s charming village ambience. Safetyline Jalousie louvre windows fulfilled this requirement by achieving a sound reduction using windows of 33Rw in accordance with Australian Standards AS 1191-2002.
In addition to tackling noise pollution, Safetyline Jalousie louvre windows’ air and watertight seals also helped to create a comfortable living environment for residents all year round. Installed on the balcony, winter gardens, the louvre windows encourage cross flow ventilation for natural summer cooling, minimise air infiltration and insulate the home during colder months.
The architects and builders were also impressed by the extra wide floor to ceiling spans. While other louvre windows would need to be supplied in five or six banks, Safetyline Jalousie was able to provide 101 Maling Road with three large banks of floor to ceiling louvre windows that meet balustrade and strict fall prevention requirements.
Safetyline Jalousie participates in a series of industry networking events and trade shows across Australia each year.
